ガイとの激闘の末、ついに捕らえられた鬼鮫。アオバはその鬼鮫から"暁"の情報を抜き取ろうと記憶の中へと入り込む。
かつての鬼鮫は、霧隠れの里で、仲間殺しなど裏の仕事をこなしてきた。仲間にとって敵なのか味方なのか、どこに向かっているのかもわからない自分を「偽りの存在」であると­考えていた鬼鮫は、密かに霧隠れに潜入していたマダラに誘われるまま、"暁"のメンバーとなる。　そして、自分と同じ同胞殺しのイタチとコンビを組むことにするのだが、鬼鮫の心には、いつかイタチの言った一言が印象深く残っていた。
