Valkyria Chronicles Episode 04 [English Subbed]

Valkyria Chronicles - Episode 4 After their impressive victory at Vasel, the reverberations of squad seven's achievements in that particular battle are still ringing in the ears of both sides of the war, with Gallia looking to take the initiative once again while the Empire look to regain the control that is in danger of slipping through their fingers. To this end, we get our first real glimpse of some of "the bad guys" as they roll out their big guns to tackle the issues that the reversal at Vasel has caused. On Gallia's side of the coin however, Welkin and company have been drafted in to support a regular military assault led by one General Damon, a man who seems to have something of a chip on his shoulder when it comes to the Militia. Indeed, he outright refuses the assistance of Welkin's squad, instead choosing to go it alone - I'm pretty sure the rest writes itself from there, but needless to say that his efforts don't exactly result in a resounding success for his troops. So, despite holding his tongue in the face of Damon's insults (or more likely simply not paying attention to them), Welkin gets his moment in the spotlight as the Militia are tasked with taking over the job of attacking the supply route and base at Kloden where the regular army left off. Can they succeed? Needless to say we'll find out next episode...

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 05: Assault On Kloden Show Synopsis: Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe. The continent, called Europan, is divided into two main powers, the Imperial Empire, a monarchy in the east and the alliance of democracies called the Federation in the west. In this world, there is a very important resource called ragnite, where ragnite crystals are used in practically everything, from fueling weapons of war to the use in medical treatments. Since ragnite is such an important resource, the Federation and the Empire are constantly at war with each other for ragnite. The story takes place in the neutral country of Gallia, known for its bountiful reserves of ragnite, when the Empire decides to invade and seize the ragnite for themselves. The story follows Welkin, the son of a former war hero, Isara, Welkin's "darksen" adoptive sister and daughter of a genius engineer, and Alicia, a member of the Bruhl town watch as they fight the Imperials in the ragtag Gallian militia group, Squad 7. Squad 7 fights to regain their homes and livelihoods with Welkin as the squad leader and commander of the Edelweiss, a special tank created by his and Isara's father, Alicia as a scout, Isara as the tank pilot of the Edelweiss and engineer, and a variety of colorful individuals.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 16: "Unspoken Thoughts"

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 16: "Unspoken Thoughts" (English Subbed): After their defeat at Fouzen, the Imperials realize that the tide of the war is turning, and if they do not regain their momentum, they will be pushed out of Gallia. However, Maximilian has a plan, but does not divulge the details to Jaeger. Meanwhile, back in Gallia, the Militia is put on alert due to suspicious Imperial movements. At camp, Largo notices the romantic tension between Welkin and Alicia. He takes Welkin to a makeshift bathouse and tells Welkin that he was in a similar situation. During the previous war, he was caught in a love triangle between Varrot and his best friend, which ended when the friend sacrificed himself in battle. Largo warns Welkin not to repeat his mistakes. Meanwhile, Isara goes to town for some shopping and Ramal decides to accompany her. Later that night, Alicia confronts Welkin and tells him about Faldio's confession. She asks Welkin what he really thinks of her, and what he thinks she should do, but Welkin refuses to involve himself, claiming that he doesn't want to hurt Faldio.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 19: "Tears"

Welkin and Alicia begin burying themselves in their work in order to avoid the issue of their relationship. The rest of Squad 7 are aware of this, but are unable to do anything about it. Varrot then informs Welkin that Squad 7 is tasked with liberating Bruhl, in an effort to raise Welkin's and Squad 7's morale. Zaka then arrives at the base and announces that he will be the replacement driver for the Edelweiss. Meanwhile, as Welkin packs Isara's belongings, he begins to have flashbacks of his sister. After doing some research and piecing together clues he had witnessed earlier, Faldio is absolutely sure that Alicia is a Valkyria. Squad 7 assaults Bruhl and quickly forces the Imperial garrison to surrender, liberating the town. Alicia finds Welkin at his old house, where he admits that Isara's death has been tearing him apart and he has been grieving since her death, yet he cannot seem to cry. Alicia comforts Welkin by telling him he no longer needs to hold back his tears.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 20: "Dearly Beloved"

At the Imperial Headquarters, Maximillian announces that the Emperor intends to remove him as commander of the Gallian invasion. With only one month until his removal, Maximillian decides to mobilize all of his forces and force Gallia into a decisive battle at the Naggiar Plains. Meanwhile in Randgriz, Ramal tries to deal with Zaka replacing Isara, and finds comfort in Faldio's advice. Soon, the entire Gallian Military face Maximillian's army. Damon has ordered Squad 7 to play a support role and is sent to the backlines. Princess Cordelia soon arrives after the first battle with Ragnite weapons in hand; she then the army a shot of confidence. With renewed vigor, the Gallian forces appear to be forcing the Imperial forces back. Maximillian, now facing defeat inside the Batomys, reveals his trump card and orders Selvaria to attack in full force. She destroys the entire Gallian force, including Squad 1. Ramal sacrifices himself to save Faldio, much to Faldio's shock. He is brought back to the Gallian camp as the only survivor. When Alicia tries to comfort him, Faldio shoots her in the back in an effort to awaken her Valkyria powers.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 22: "Confusion"

Alicia is being kept isolated from Squad 7, while Damon decides to transfer her to the regular military to exploit her Valkyria powers. Welkins confronts Faldio about his crimes, with Faldio replying that he had no other choice or Gallia would have have lost. Meanwhile, Selvaria fumes over her failure to protect Maximilian, while the prince is determined to take Gallia despite the loss at Naggiar. He still has a trump card in the form of a massive armored vehicle. At the Gallian camp, Alicia escapes when she finds out about her forced transfer and tries to reunite with Squad 7. The members of Squad 7, however, are reluctant to accept Alicia back into their squad, and she inadvertently hears their conversation. Alicia sadly accepts the view that she is now a monster, and decides to accept the transfer to the regular military, despite Welkin's pleas.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 24: "Determination"

Alicia and Selvaria meet with the final showdown. As they battle, they both recognize each other from the lab they were at as children. Selvaria, being considered the most powerful, was kept at the lab while the rest of the orphans including Alicia were sent away to foster families. Selvaria managed to escape and met Maximilian. During the battle, Selvaria, fighting for Maximilian, begins to gain ground on Alicia. Nearly defeated, Alicia suddenly realizes that she has something precious to fight for as well: Squad 7 and Welkin. Using her full power, she manages to defeat Selvaria. Selvaria sadly realizes that she is of no more use to Maximilian, and sacrifices herself to create a massive explosion, destroying the Gallian army and General Damon. Meanwhile, Maximilian negotiates a truce with Cordelia, demanding she marry him so that he has access to the Valkyrur bloodline, but Cordelia reveals that she is in fact a Darcsen. Shocked, Maximilian orders the Marmotah to attack Randgriz. Karl then confronts Maximilian about how he could be so cold to the loss of Selvaria, but Maximilian merely shoots him and leaves him for dead.

Valkyria Chronicles Episode 26: "Decisive Battle" (Series Finale)

Squad 7 is able to gain entry into the Marmotah through the hole blasted by Alicia. While inside, the members of Squad 7 create diversions and traps to allow Faldio and Welkin to search for Alicia. Faldio is shot protecting Welkin and sacrifices himself to hold off the Imperials. Alicia is brought in front of Maximilian and he tries to convince her to join him but Alicia calls him a pathetic fool. When Welkin finds Alicia tied up on the deck of the Marmotah, Maximilian attacks him using the Artificial Valkyrian System deriving power from the Holy Lance. He frees Alicia and challenges her and Welkin to a duel to demonstrate the power of his superior technology. Alicia regains her strength and grabs herself to Maximilian's thigh and unleashes the Valkyrian Flame which overloads the system and injures Maximilian. Not wanting to be captured, Maximilian throws himself into the Marmotah and the vessel starts burning. Alicia pleads Welkin to leave her because she feels she can no longer can control the burning Valkyrian flame. However, Welkin leaps towards her and kisses her, extinguishing the flame. After the battle, the Empire signs a truce with Gallia. The 7 month war is finally over and the Squad 7 is disbanded. Princess Cordelia is cheered by the Gallian citizens in her coronation. All of the members of Squad 7 go their separate ways. Jaegar can be seen in the train station behind Edy and Homer. Meanwhile, Welkin and Alicia hold hands looking over Bruhl, promising to live and honor the memories of those that died in the war.
